Comparison of wood plates is a difficult task primarily because they are close to each other in terms of composition and production technology. Some researchers generally believe that these materials can be considered identical. However, a detailed study of the characteristics of each of the materials allows us to highlight their advantages and disadvantages.
Features of production technology
DSP plates are made of fine wood chips, sawdust, secondary wood, which is impregnated with organic resins, mainly on the basis of phenol -formaldehyde. The formation of the material occurs in the process of hot pressing at a temperature of about 100 – 140 ° C. The finished plate is cooled, cut and polished. wood in the resulting material does not exceed 80%.
Ninemal wood in the form of long flat chips (up to 140 mm) is on the production of OSB, which, when impregnated, consumes significantly less resin, which allows you to get materials from wood more than 90%. Additional processing of the carpet with paraffin leads to an increase in the atmosphere of resistance OSB 3. When forming the carpet, the chips are laid in three layers, and the middle layer is oriented perpendicular to the outer. The average OSB 3 pressing temperature exceeds 200 ° C, which allows you to almost completely remove the free toxic substances that make up the resins used even at the stage of creating the canvas.
OSB and chipboard properties
The most important advantage of chipboard can be called its low cost. Otherwise, for all indicators, including the simplicity of processing, operational characteristics and durability, this material is significantly inferior to the focusing and scaffolding. Special properties of laying the OSB canvas lead to increased strength of the material, excellent performance of fasteners, high depreciation properties. OSB 3 has high moisture resistance, its physicochemical properties practically do not change when moisture increases, which is important both when used in the open air and in the rooms.
Material, due to the low content of resins, is environmentally friendly and can be used in closed rooms, including in children’s rooms, in kitchens. Unlike chipboard, which shows a high issue of formaldehyde in the atmosphere, OSB complies with the level of E1 international security standards.
