A bathhouse is not only a place to wash. She has a beneficial effect on the health, tone and mood of a person. Therefore, the presence of your own bath is not a luxury, but an urgent need.
The most common way to build a log bath is to cut the walls in a round bowl. With this method, semicircular recesses in the upper log are used for fastening. At the same time, the ends of the logs are carried out abroad of the corner by twenty to thirty centimeters. It turns out the so -called connection with the remainder. This determines the main advantages and disadvantages of such a cutting.
Benefits of cutting in the bowl
the convenience of fastening logs, therefore, the maximum possible ease of assembly;
minimum heat loss due to the protection of angles from precipitation and wind by protruding logs;
The reliability of the construction (logs do not move relative to each other).
The main drawback of such a cut is a large overspending of the material. Forty to sixty centimeters of the log length on each side of the bath is lost. The relative drawback can be considered the difficulty of lining such a log house due to the logs protruding around the perimeter and, as a result, the need for antiseptic treatment and painting. But on the other hand, the absence of a sheathing does not affect the heat -insulating qualities of the bath, and a well -cut and processed log building looks much more beautiful than a faceless sheated building.
Preparation of wood
To build a bath, you first need to determine the size of the log house. The standard bath should have a steam room, a washing room and a rest room (dressing room). Based on the minimum possible for the comfort of the area of each room and the standard log length, the optimal area of the bath is 3 by 6 m. sq. Although, of course, the size can be any and is limited to the area of the land and the financial capabilities of the owner.
Logs for the bath need to be made from the forest cut down from November to March. At this time, wood practically does not produce juice, which means that the log house made of it will be much less subject to shrinkage and less cracks form in it. In addition, the winter forest is more resistant to mold and fungi.
The logs for logs should be selected even and with a small difference in diameter between the comle and the top (no more than seven centimeters), there should be as few knots as possible. The most suitable tree for a log house is pine, but for the lower row it is better to choose a larch, since it is most resistant to damp and moisture.
It is easier to remove the bark from the prepared material immediately after the cutting, until the tree has dried, while you need to maintain a thin layer between the barrel and the bark especially thoroughly. After that, the tree is dried, for which it must be placed on the structure raised above the ground. After drying, the log is treated with an electric grinder, while removing all defects in the wood surface. However, when processing, it is not necessary to remove too thick a layer of wood, since its core is less durable.
The harvest of the log house
Before laying the lower row of a log house, the longitudinal logs of the crown are cut along in half, and about four centimeters are removed from the transverse. With this processing, the log house will fit tightly to the foundation of the bath. First, the longitudinal halves of logs are laid, after which they are thoroughly aligned diagonally and height. Transverse logs with already cut down bowls are laid on them, the outline and size of which corresponds to the diameter of the lower half of the log, taking into account five millimeters for shrinkage. After alignment, the first row is attached in the corners with the help of the bastards, so that when laying the next there is no displacement.
The following crowbar crowns are laid out similarly to the lower one, only at the same time they make a longitudinal groove between the logs of the rows, so they join each other tightly with each other.
When cutting, you should constantly adjust the logs vertically so that the angle of construction does not shift. This is done as follows: the middle is measured on the end part of the log, and through it a vertical feature is carried out using the level, which is aligned with the same mark on the lower log during the cutting process.
As a rule, the log house is made of two parts, since it is very difficult to work with a structure with a height of more than 150 cm. The upper crown of the first (lower) part is drilled in the corners, on the ends of all logs there are heights (a segment from the lower part of the log house to the upper row) and the diagonal, after which the crown is removed downward. There it is collected by bastards, aligned in all respects and on it begin to collect the upper part of the log house. If window and doorways were cut down at the bottom, then to simplify the leveling of them, they must be blocked in the removable crown.
Assembly of a log house
After the log house is ready, it is marked with numbers or letters so that when assembling the logs are not mixed up. Huggles are installed every meter – one and a half, and for better thermal insulation, the joints between the logs are drunk with moss, linen or pacley. After the log house settles, the resulting cracks are additionally closed with a heater. Then the log house is impregnated with an antiseptic solution based on water, which does not form a film when drying, otherwise the logs will dry poorly.
Finally, several useful tips. Even if you decide to build a log house yourself, you cannot do without assistants in such a responsible business, at least when carrying out rigging work. If possible for lifting logs, it is better to use special equipment.
When cutting the bath, the lower and removable rows should be put on wide dies, having previously pulled out the entire grass under them. Fasteners must be chosen not exactly in size of the holes, but less for a couple of millimeters, then they will not jam them when the construction was precipitated. When laying the walls of the upper logs, they are placed above the top of the lower.
And most importantly – do not forget about your own safety. In any weather, you need to work in gloves, protect your eyes with special glasses and put on a construction suit.
